I. Read and translate the text. Answer the questions.
There are very dangerous reefs near the northern coast of New Zealand. In the summer of 1871, a ship called the “Brindle” was moving slowly through a fog near the reefs. Some sailors on the ship suddenly saw a tremendous white dolphin in the water.
It swam towards them and then turned and swam in front of the ship. The dolphin seemed to lead the ship, and it swam on and on until the ship had passed the dangerous reefs. Then it swam away, and the ship, led by the dolphin into open water, continued on its way.
From that time the white dolphin met every ship that came to the reefs. Sailors in every port knew about the dolphin; thanks to its “work” not one ship was lost on the reefs. It continued to serve as a ships’ pilot until 1912. Of course, no one could be sure that it was the same dolphin, and no one has ever discovered what made the white dolphin (or dolphins) pilot ships past the reefs for forty years.

Good morning, students! Hello, everyone! How are you?
How are things? Students, today before going to college I was listening to my favourite song by one famous group. I was so much pleased. Guess what the group is, what the song is.

  1. This group was and is one of the most famous rock groups in all the world. It was founded in 1959 in England. It was named “The Liverpool Four”. The leader of the group was Jonn Lennon. The musicians played “psychedelic” rock, then rock-n –roll. Their songs “Yesterday”, “I Love You”, “Yellow Submarine” and others made the group famous all over the world.
  2. This singer was named “The King of Rock”. He was born in 1935 in America. He was a singer and guitar player who made rock’n’roll (later called rock) popular in the 50s.From 1956-1963, he was the most successful and influential person in popular music. He is often called the father (or founder) of rock.
  3. It was the first non-Anglo-Saxon pop-group, which was founded in 1972. The performers were Sweden musicians and singers. Their famous singles are “Mamma mia”, “Money, money, money”, “Dancing Queen” and so on. Their music was very tuneful, amazing and catchy.
  4. This famous singer was born in Ontario, Canada in 1959. His mother was an English teacher, his father was in the army. When a boy of 12 his parents divorced. In 1992 his single “Everything I Do (I Do It For You) broke records In 13 countries, it was number one in the UK pop charts for 17 weeks. The musician is the biggest rock star of Canada.
